Historical Walk through the oldest part of town
What: City Walk through Old Town, east side.
Start: In front of the Central Station, unless otherwise confirmed.
Duration: 3 hrs
Special 'Corona' price for 1-4 persons: € 150,00 for the whole group (excl. snacks, drinks, entrance fees)
Number of persons: max 4 (see Corona regulations and Group forming here)
We will walk through the historical center and learn about the way this oldest part of the city has been built around the Old Church and why the picturesque houses seem to lean forward… What are hidden churches and where are they to be found? Get a glimpse of the red light district and stroll along the Chinese shops and restaurants at Chinatown all the way to the Waag, the former wage where overseas merchandise was once shipped into the city. We will continue our walk and get to understand what politics and the former Jewish quarter have to do with new architecture and the diamond industry in the middle of the historical center. Take a nice picture in front of Rembrandt's House (nowadays a Museum and worth the visit) and find out where he painted his masterpieces! Try to immagine the rich and famous of Amsterdam in the Golden Age and get to know about Amsterdam’s biggest enterprise ever: The VOC. Passing the University Area we will walk to the Dam Square, with the Nieuwe Kerk, the Royal Palace and War Memorial. This is where our trip will end.
